Emotional struggle is central to Imagine Dragons' ethos. From the beginning it's been the group's goal to take the pain they've each experienced in life and spin it into something redemptive and uplifting. That transformation of emotional pain into art is what drives them as people and it's also what inspired their first hit. I wrote It's Time during a very transitional period in my life, Reynolds recalls. It seemed like everything was going wrong. I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life, trying to figure out how seriously to take music. I was making decisions about who I was. I'm a pretty young guy and I m still trying to figure out the answer to those questions. With the release of Night Visions, Imagine Dragons finally have a chance to show the world what that magic sounds like. They start off with a big statement in Radioactive, which blends a throbbing backbeat with delicate acoustic guitars and deals lyrically with facing the apocalypse. We want people to hear that song and feel empowered, Reynolds explains. Meanwhile, the delicacy of tracks like Demons balances the album's expansiveness with a sense of human intimacy. The album title came together very organically, Reynolds recalls of the records overall theme. We all sat in a room and wrote out what the band and sound of the album means to us. We all deal with our own demons and anxieties but we find that nothing calms the mind more than creating. Many of the songs on the album were written late into the night, and some of the lyrical themes came from dreams I've had, even some nightmares. So when the title Night Visions came up, it just seemed to fit perfectly. We hope it inspires other to create, and push through their own struggles.

Supermodel is the highly anticipated new album from Foster The People featuring first single "Coming of Age." Produced by Paul Epworth, the globally influenced album is the follow-up to the group's critically acclaimed 2011 debut Torches.
Recorded in various locations around the world, Supermodel began as frontman Mark Foster and producer Paul Epworth set up a writing studio in a riad in Essaouira, Morocco at the end of 2012. "We didn't have any rules. We just created as much as we could in seven days," Foster recalls, "And in the spirit of wanderlust and discovery we ended up stumbling on the musical identity of what this record was going to feel like."
From Morocco the album continued to migrate with Foster and the band. Work continued at Woodshed Studios in Malibu, Henson Studios and Bronson Island in Los Angeles and was finished at Epworth's Wolf Tone Studios in London.
Foster the People achieved success with the 2011 release of their debut album Torches, featuring the #1 hit single "Pumped Up Kicks," which was declared "the year s anthem" by SPIN. Foster the People garnered three GRAMMY nominations for their monumental debut, including Best Alternative Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Pumped Up Kicks" and Best Short Form Music Video for "Houdini."

2012 release from the Icelandic outfit formed by singer/guitarist Nanna Brynd¡s Hilmarsd¢ttir. Their rapid rise transpired in just one year. Nanna, who began as the acoustic act Songbird, recruited extra hands to bolster her sound for a solo show. She liked how her vocals commingled with guitarist/vocalist Ragnar "Raggi" _¢rhallsson's, so they started writing songs together and in 2010 morphed into Of Monsters And Men. As victors of 2010's M£siktilraunir, the new group earned a slot on the influential Iceland Airwaves festival later that year, followed by Seattle's radio station KEXP posting "Little Talks" from a Living Room Session filmed there, setting the telltale ripple effect in motion. Though their reach is growing broader, the group's appeal has remained distinct: Their music is as fantastical as it is pretty.

Hell remains a source of inspiration for all kinds of art. It s impossible to even catalog how many books, movies, plays, and records have been written on the subject. However, the world s fascination with the big ole inferno never dwindles or dissipates.
On their second full-length album, Going to Hell, The Pretty Reckless flirt with said theme, most notably on the raucous and roaring title track. Over a twisting and turning riff and bombastic rhythm, frontwoman Taylor Momsen confidently announces, I m going to Hell.

With its heavy-duty distortion, weighty rhythms, and cynical lyrics, Tool is a heavy metal band for the '90s. Rather like Metallica circa ...And Justice for All, the sound is focused heavily on texture, with vocals and guitars layered one atop the other, and heart-pounding drums underlying everything. There's not a whole lot of variety on Tool's second full-length album--most of the songs start off fairly low-key, kicking into high gear for the chorus, and repeat--but Maynard James Keenan's distinctive voice, the prog-rock stylings over a heavy metal base, and a supremely unhealthy dose of vitriol make this the perfect album to bang your head to.
