Editorial Reviews
Chaka is a 5-time Grammy-winner whose category-defying music helped expand the boundaries of R&B, dance, pop and jazz. This landmark album features her greatest hits alongside 5 new tracks. Among the classics are "Ain't Nobody" (with Rufus), the Prince-penned "I Feel for You" (featuring Grandmaster Melle Mel's unforgettable rap) and "I'm Every Woman" (the title of her new autobiography). of the 5 new songs, the 1st single, "Never Miss the Water," teams Chaka with Me'Shell N'Degeocello.

Born and bred in the South Side of Chicago, Yvette (her given name) was one of five siblings, who proved she had fierce talent at an early age. The way she purred her way through music with style, class and tasteful sexiness was incomparable to any young songbird coming up in the 1970s. Songs like "Tell Me Somethin' Good" (written by Stevie Wonder), later songs when she went solo - like "Ain't Nobody" and "Through the Fire" - show her sensitivity, her soul to the bone and her purity as an artist. When I hear this music, I often feel lifted, closer to a spiritual plane and in the company of a good friend. It is comforting and also makes you feel like you've got something to carry with pride, as a woman. I haven't found other artists who can transform their listeners in quite the same way. It's like being at a spiritual revival and a disco, at the same time. Good feelings, good vibes.
