Product Description
Product Description
Your mission is to challenge-and defeat-all 8 gym leaders, one at a time. As you collect Trainer badges and earn respect among Pokémon and trainers alike, you will travel through deep, dark caves and across vast oceans and plains. Keep your eyes peeled as you go-some Pokémon only show up in certain areas and some come out only at certain times of the day or night. And some Pokémon can only be hatched, so you'll want to match them wisely to ensure that they produce eggs. Defeating gym leaders is not your only challenge. You must also fill up your Pokédex and unravel all the mysteries in the land of Johto.

Pokémon Crystal is to Pokémon Gold and Silver what Pokémon Yellow is to Pokémon Red and Blue. It features several minor upgrades from its predecessors, but in essence it's still the same game. The classic Pokémon formula of adventuring, collecting, and battling is at a series best with Crystal. This is one of the best and most addictive role-playing games for the Game Boy Color.
The most notable feature is the selectable female trainer who has her own set of animations and backgrounds. This is a great option for female Pokémon fans who were previously stuck playing the game as a male character. There are also subtle improvements to the cell phone system, HM moves, and prebattle animations. Rival trainers' phone calls are now more plentiful and pragmatic. HM moves, which are required throughout the game, are available at the push of a button--you'll no longer have to navigate menus to use these moves. Lastly, seeing a Pokémon's new animation makes encountering new creatures more fun than before.
If you haven't played Gold or Silver yet, Crystal is definitely the way to go. If you've played those previous games, Crystal has only enough new features to justify a purchase from Pokémon fanatics. This game is compatible with the link cable, Game Boy printer, and Pokémon Pikachu 2. It's playable on Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance only, and can be played on a television using Pokémon Stadium 2 and a Transfer Pak. --Raymond M. Padilla
Pros:
- New female trainer
- Prebattle animations are cute
- Lots of subtle improvements Cons:
- Too similar to Gold and Silver
- Mobile phone features not in the U.S. version

Now for the time this game was released this had great graphics, and added a major change: the first game you could play as a girl. Because of this more girls played the game making pokemon more popular. More major changes are the ones that include the fact that there are ho oh and lugia and a manadatory legendary event. This started the wake up the legends and catch them series that has gone on for a long time, which started with that guy on the front of the box, a suicune. I know a guy who soft resetted to get a shiny suicune. The starters are all new and hard to get unless you hack emerald or trade repeatedly, with chikorita, the grass type, cyndaquil, the fire type, and totodile, the water type.
Another great feature was you could go back to kanto and fight the gym leaders, with a new one and a shocking final battle. The gym leader was blue, and i will leave the final battle on top of mt silver open for interpretation. Raikou, Entei, Lugia, And Ho-oH were other legendaries avaible legitly in the game, the kanto legends are gone. There is one more final pokemon to hack for, celebi. And dont forget all the new pokemon, baby pokemon like pichu, and even the lovable pokegear!
So as i close this review, just remember that this game was, and is the best pokemon game out their.
The things I really like about the Crystal version is that there are some nice bonus features added like
1. Buena's Password and you get a blue card and when you listen to her station it plays a catchy tune and she tells you the password of the day when you tune in and you get points! Then you cash in those points for some cool items. (Which was not introduced in Gold & Silver)
2. There are more cool Pokémon available to catch in the Crystal version.
3. When you check your Pokémon's stats your Pokémon's sprites move which is pretty cool unlike Pokemon Red through Silver the Pokémon don't move.
4. The game cartridge is transparent which means it's see through and you can look inside through the game cartridge and see all the little chips, electronics, and the save battery which I think is pretty neat.
5. You can choose to play as a boy or a girl in the game which is awesome. As a matter in fact I chose to play as a girl and named her Crystal. I think it's cooler to play as a girl because it sets apart from only playing as a boy in Pokémon Red through Silver.
The only downfall to the Crystal version is that the cloning trick doesn't seem to work in Crystal like in Gold & Silver but I still give it 5 stars because of all the cool features added that Gold & Silver didn't have.
If you are looking for a great game with more cool features added get the Crystal version!
