The TI Keyboard provides versatility that can be used in every class. Portability takes on a new meaning, as this durable unit brings word processing capabilities to many of TI's educational handhelds, like the bestselling TI-83 Plus (top choice among U.S. high school students) and the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition.
The included NoteFolio Handheld Software Application (App) allows the TI keyboard and TI handheld to work compatibly, so you can type and save notes for any class. Plus, NoteFolio Creator software, a TI-Graph Link cable (not included), and TI Connect software on your computer enable the TI handheld to communicate with the computer. With this feature, you can access notes by downloading files into Microsoft Word; edit, complete, and print assignments with a computer; and use word processing capabilities on a TI handheld.
TI keyboard features include full-size keys for easy typing, durable design, and a compact profile (only two-thirds the size of a traditional computer keyboard). The keyboard fits easily inside a backpack, so you can take it to class or anywhere else you need it. Along with the keyboard, the package includes three AAA batteries, nonskid feet, a cradle, NoteFolio App, NoteFolio Creator software, and a guidebook.

The keyboard works great with the TI-89 Titanium, although the Titanium does not work with the cradle that comes with it. The cradle was designed for the TI-83-series and the original TI-89. The Titanium has a different shape and the data I/O port is on top of the enclosure. I modified the cable for the cradle, which is removable, so it can plug into the calculator. It works perfectly like that, just as I had hoped. The keyboard is supported consistently in every app and function, eliminating the need for any PC-based tools, such as Notefolio Creator, when typing notes or writing programs.
The keyboard feels comfortable to work with and has been reliable for a few months now. It's smaller than a standard keyboard, so it fits easily in my backpack. It comes with a special cover for the ti-89. It uses the I/O port for communication.
It works great with the Notefolio app that I got online. I can type notes on my calculator and easily put them on my computer later. There aren't the normal function buttons printed on the keyboard, so it can sometimes be hard to remember which button you need to push. I recommend not using this keyboard to do math since it lacks the 0-9 keys in the 3x3 format. This makes the keyboard compact, but also limits its best functionality to word-processing applications.
I really like the cover that it comes with that makes the calculator angle up. It's slightly more bulky than the one that comes with the calculator, but it's an added feature that seems beneficial.
Having a link cable for the I/O port is also good since it allows multiplayer functions on the calculator games. (Admittedly most people who play calculator games aren't social butterflies seeking multiplayer, but you never know). My one complaint is that it came with batteries that were corroded and that made a mess since I was careless enough to open the package before realizing the batteries were unusable. The battery problem corresponds to another problem--the manufacturer's warranty expired already. This is an OLD product even though it is new in the box. Keep this in mind, and you won't be disappointed.
I probably would not have passed Calculus II if it were not for this keyboard. The ability to take notes on a calculator is invaluable, as they are not cleared during tests at our campus and so it is nifty to bring in the whole arsenal of notes with this. However, I feel I learned the material better because I was taking notes on a calculator - the distraction free environment that note taking on a calculator provides is very nice. It's easy to type on, and I have not had the battery die out on me since I purchased it. The stand that this comes with is good too - durable, and already comes with a cable to link your TI-83 to the keyboard. There are not many of these left on Amazon, but if you are a college student that wants a major help for their math courses, I can 100% recommend getting one of these.
Batteries didn't work, of course; but just some new batteries were all that was needed.
This worked perfectly along with the TI calculator; however, I'll probably never use that calculator again. Works perfect for a calculator I probably will never use again.
If you want a keyboard for your calculator, this is your only option. It has all the letters, but it lacks other buttons such as some for programming which gives the keyboard limited functionality.
It also comes with some nice software that is like notepad for calculators so you can save and manage your files. It's pretty easy to set up, you just have to download a new operating system for your calculator.
Overall good accessory for every calculator finatic, somewhat pricey, but again, its the only one
I purchased this keyboard for higher productivity with the TI-89. I'm of the opinion that only the TI-89 and it's Motorola 68000 based siblings (TI-92, Voyage 200) warrant this because of their included, fairly rich and feature laden Basic programming language. Basic seems to have fallen out of favour in some circles because it is less 'structured' then some more modern computer languages. That said, if you maintain your own code, and the programs are not real long, Basic is very powerful and easy. This is why a keyboard is a good idea, as program entry through a calculator keyboard is tedious, though TI has provided functionality on the TI-89 to make it less so. I note that while there are a lot of these keyboards around and in stock, I've heard that TI is no longer manufacturing them, so if you have an '89' you might want to pick one up while they are still available.
