Product Description
Product Description
Rain Bird FCKIT-1PK Drip Irrigation Faucet Connection Kit for 1/2" Tubing, Includes Pressure Regulator and Filter. Rain Bird's Faucet Connection Kit contains all components necessary to connect 1/2" Drip tubing to any standard 3/4" male threaded outdoor faucet or garden hose. Saving up to 65% over sprinkler watering, Drip systems apply water directly to the root zone for healthier, faster-growing plants, longer lasting blooms, and greener leaves. Since you won't be watering the surrounding soil, you'll also have fewer weeds to pull. Simply thread kit onto any standard 3/4" MPT faucet or hose; slide 1/2" Drip tubing into the compression fitting and tighten for a leak-proof seal. The kit contains: backflow preventer, 25 psi pressure regulator, and 150 mesh filter to assure correct and dependable Drip system performance. Constructed of highly durable UV and chemical-resistant materials to assure long life. To automate your faucet or garden hose Drip system, add a professional grade Rain Bird 1ZEHTMR Hose-End Timer (sold separately) between FCKIT and faucet or hose. If more than one tubing zone is served by the faucet add a "Y" connection to add two runs (Rain Bird model YFA075X sold separately). Rain Bird “The Intelligent Use of Water”

All this can be costly and then you have to figure out how to assemble it, and you know that connecting a bunch of plumbing fixtures together can result in you getting a bag of expensive brass bushings, pipes, adapters, etc.
Or, get this fine little unit. Cheap, all-in-one and just fine for a modest back-yard system. You can easily add a timer to it so long as it has faucet/hose connections as most of the small in-line battery operated timers do. This makes for a good, affordable and legal system (there are codes requiring back-flow devices).
The bottom part connects that 1/2 plastic hose in a simple and non-leaking manner.
This is how I hooked up my little system: first, I got a 90-degree angle faucet so that it points straight down. I found a drain faucet that did the trick. I just wanted the unit to be straight up and down, not sticking out at an angle as it does on a standard faucet. I think it looks better and people won't trip over it. It also makes the timer sit nice and level, neat and professional-looking.
The last advantage is that the plastic hose goes straight down into the ground, into the ditch you dug for it. When it is covered with dirt, this helps stabilize the kit. After all, it is plastic and while it seems sturdy enough, support at the bottom will help it survive an impact.
The last tip is to put a two-or three-way tee connector between the faucet and the kit. This allows you to simultaneously use a hose, and you know you will still need one for miscellaneous watering. The kit, a tee and a timer adds up, so your faucet either has to be fairly high or the bottom part of the kit will have to be buried in the ditch. This won't hurt anything and might make it even more stable, so don't worry.
This kit is great for the average yard, is simple and economical and works well. I can recommend it.

I found the easy fit part that attaches to the distribution hosing could be flexed and would cause it to drip. I took the flex off the fitting by securing the distribution hosing so the connection didn't have strain on it.
You can see in the picture that any more bend would put strain on the fitting an cause a leak.
