Hmmm.... Be careful with this stuff. Great Company Though!

Hmmm.... Be careful with this stuff. Great Company Though!
I have an MSR Huba from the mid-2010's with the infamous waterproofing tape disintegration problem. (It's a great tent tough). After hours of work removing ALL of the crumbling waterproofing tape from my tent, as per MSR's instructions, I applied GearAid's "water-based" "fast cure" seam sealant. The product states "test dryness after 2-4 hours." After 16 hours in a temperature-controlled room with the tent flaps open for airflow, the sealant was dry to the touch and good to go... until I went. After a single night of backpacking ALL the GearAid Fast Cure sealant became white and tacky, it stuck together, pealed up, and ruined my entire project—I hope I can fix it!GearAid responded to my inquiry to their customer service department and offered an explanation of why this may have happened. They were very nice, offered advice for the removal and repair of the botched sealant, and even offered a replacement bottle of the same stuff or a more permanent type (the GearAid WP). Despite the 6 hours I spent making this repair worse, I respect and appreciate a company with that level of care for their products and customers. I will try AGAIN!
