On the other hand, I do a a lot of editing, downloading, surfing, and other stuff that the mouse would really be handy.
I own a laptop so there are times when I have trouble moving around due to some limitations that a touchpad has.
Anyway, the mouse on the first try has a very loud clicking sound. I mean loud. This is obvious since its new. As the time passes, I overused it, the clicking sound seemed to have toned down a bit. I don't mind the sound, this is afterall a cheap mouse don't expect too much.
Scroll wheel works fine too. It does the job.
The fit for my hand is ok. If your hand glove size is a small this is perfect if you use medium it will depend on your comfort level, if you use large it might be a bit small, but then again it depends on your comfort level. I use a S/M gloves.
The software download was not much work just plug it in wait for your computer to recognize it then voila! You can start using it. The sensitivity of the mouse is not bad either. I don't see any slowness at all. I have been using the mouse for about two weeks now constantly, everyday, heavy usage.
I own a hp pavilion g6, so I wouldn't know how it would fare with an apple product desktop/laptop.
I recommend this product. If you're looking for something just so it will be easier to do things or move around things when you're using a laptop this one is for you, cheap and simple.
If you are a gamer, it might do the trick but it might not be as good when it comes to speed especially if you do online MP, MMO etc. you know what i mean....
I bought this model because it had good reviews, a low price, and it was Mac compatible. So far, this mouse has been perfect! It is a very basic model that works right out of the box. You just plug it in and you're done. The shape is good for a comfortable hand position and the cord is long enough to use from any distance on your desk. It has worked on any surface I have used it on so far. As many have mentioned, this mouse is really light and comes with minimal packaging but I prefer the lighter feel and less plastic.
I would highly recommend this mouse if you need a basic, inexpensive, easy to use product that works!
To begin, it's pretty good for finger-tip clicking. I bought this mouse because I am building a gaming PC and plan to buy a gaming mouse later. I needed a mouse to keep me going until I got the money to get a super nice one. Let me list some pros and cons.
Pros: Mouse wheel is nice and sturdy. Very easy to scroll. It's really cheap, but doesn't perform cheap! I tried gaming on it, and it's not terrible for gaming. I also did some Photoshop with it and it could do brush stroke just fine. It felt very simple to do so. Also long USB cord.
Cons: Not many here. One con is that when you click the left mouse button, you can feel it being clicked on the right mouse button. It does NOT do a right click when you left click, it just feels like you are. Other than that, there are no other cons!
I have had this mouse for roughly 24 hours. Will post another review if it breaks or malfunctions, though I doubt it will.
In summary, good mouse if you just need a basic cheap mouse to use.
At such moments I've found it most expedient simply to set the Magic Mouse aside and go to a Logitech wireless M-5 or M-10, both exceptionally simple and dependable (not to mention colorful) little creatures. The problem, however, is the tiny receiver that you have to insert into a computer's USB port and then remember to replace in the mouse (unless you have more USB ports than I). It's the 2nd part--putting the receiver away in the only place you'll find it--that eludes me time and time again. I've gone through 3 of the critters in the last two months, and at a cost of $20-$30 per mouse, such an expenditure on mice can be as budget-breaking as maintaining a St. Bernard. (I've even suggested to Logitech that, while it's understandable that each mouse must have a tiny receiver dedicated to that specific mouse, it might be a good idea--and even engender good-will toward a currently struggling company (tablets are savaging computer-accessory makers these days)--to make the M-5 and M-10 "hybrids" by including a thin, optional wire that could be used to salvage a mouse that has lost its brain-receiver).
Too bad the company has not heeded my suggestion because I've decided I simply can't afford another wireless--at least not for a while. Of course, Logitech makes a wired model that is not only comparable in price with the Kensington but is currently out-selling it by an apparently wide margin. I suspect it may even be a better mouse in some respects than the Kensington. I've simply lost interest in all Logitech mice--at least for the time being.
As for this Kensington Mouse-in-a-Box, it's not pretty but it's entirely serviceable and, moreover, is a no-brainer to operate. (My only complaint is the ease with which I can press the scroll wheel downward, a gesture which displaces the entire screen in front of me.) For the most part, it answers my occasional needs for a "non-Magic" mouse perfectly. And I doubt that it's going to escape from its box anytime soon (just in case, I've put a Ritz cracker with peanut butter alongside it).
