For years I've been using some regular old toolbox wire cutters or a Dremel for cutting bike cables. It's always my least favorite part of maintenance. The cables are squeezed and the housings get torn. It takes several minutes of effort to cut through any cables, especially the stranded shifting cables. The Dremel ends up melting the cable housing and I regularly break cutting wheels before the job is over.
For my most recent build I finally decided to pony up for a pair of dedicated cable cutters and am AMAZED at the difference. I decided to take a chance on these cutters rather than spend twice as much for some more well knows brands and am thrilled with the result. These cut almost effortlessly. One clean snip with minimal effort. Literally takes two seconds to cut a cable and its a nice clean cut. I barely even need to file the cable ends once cut.
These are a great deal and its worth having a dedicated pair of cable cutters even if you only use them occasionally. They save a lot of headaches.
