H.264 compression for smoother video
The FI9821W is one of the first Foscam cameras to provide H.264 compression, which allows for HD quality video and also smaller file sizes when recording video. This allows you to store anywhere from 3 - 5 times as much video compared to MJPEG compression cameras, like our FI8910W model.

Now features a WPS button for easy wireless setup
Foscam is designed to work right of the box - simply connect the camera to your wireless network using the new WPS button located on the back of the camera (required WPS compatible router), set up port-forwarding and away you go. Once properly configured, the camera operates independently without the need for a computer.
Industry leading tech-support
Should you require any help or assistance, our top-notch technical support team is available to guide you step-by-step through the process via telephone and remote log-in session. In addition, we have a comprehensive set of step-by-step video tutorials which are available on the Foscam US website under the "Support" section.

As long as you have internet through 3G, 4G, LTE, or wifi, there is no limit on where and when you can stream your Foscam camera.

Night vision up to 26 feet with an IR-cut filter
The Foscam FI9821W V2 uses 11 infrared LEDs to record video in total darkness up to 26 feet away. It also utilizes an IR-cut filter which allows the camera to render true and accurate colors during daytime.
Talk and listen with integrated two-way audio
Listen and respond to what is going on while you watch. Foscam's built-in speaker and mic allow you to keep in touch without the need for a telephone or computer. Take video conference calling and remote baby monitoring to the next level.
Direct access to your cameras and video with no monthly fees
Directly linked from your router to your camera
Each Foscam IP camera is outfitted with its own network video server which directly connects the camera and your viewing/recording device. All images and video are stored directly on an SD card (not included) or network video recorder(NVR).
No recurring fees
You have complete access and control over your content and can never be locked into paying any monthly fees. Since your Foscam camera is connected directly to your router and runs off of your own network, you are in control of all video recordings as well as who is viewing your camera.
Flexible storage options
If you wish to store your video on third party servers, that option is available. Foscam is compatible with Dropbox, Sensr.net, iCloud, Camcloud, and most other third party network storage services that allows you to mount the storage service as a hard-drive on your PC.
Enhance your experience with Foscam's Blue Iris Professional
Take video security to the next level with professional surveillance software
Foscam's Blue Iris Professional video recording software (sold separately) allows you to convert any existing Windows PC into a full-fledged professional digital video recording solution. Blue Iris enhances existing built-in software by adding the following features:

Impression so far: VERY impressed.
Setup: popped in CD and loaded Mac software, connected cam to Ethernet and had fullscreen HD video on my Mac in about sixty seconds. Awesome.
Video Quality: Excellent! Video is amazingly crisp and definitely 720 quality. Video gets slightly blurry when panning/tilting but instantly regains focus when cam is not moving. Can clearly see details at least 10 feet away (limited by room size). Latency is very, very good - barely a 1/4 to 1/2 second delay from real time to video feed displayed on screen. I am extremely pleased! Have not tested out night vision yet.
Audio: have not done extensive testing but two-way mic works fine, and the browser interface picks up audio from the cam as expected. I do not experience the "ticking/crackling/hissing" noise that some reviewers have noted when the camera is on (see YouTube, awkwardhamster's channel, "Foscam Speaker Issue - Crackling Static Noise Fix". Camera is very, very quiet, even when panning/tilting. I did manually activate the IR LEDs for fun and there is a soft "click" as they are turned on or off.
Web UI: the browser interface (which I am testing in Safari on Mac OS 10.8.latest) is very intuitive, organized, fast and packed with features. You can do everything from change the cam network settings, control pan/tilt, activate two way mic, IR lights, reboot camera, etc. Extremely useful.
iPhone/iPad App: I have not had a chance to connect to the cam via iOS app yet so stay tuned. It appears there are only a handful that support the Foscam H.264 video type, I will post my findings.
Wireless Setup: My cam shipped with firmware version 1.1.1.10. After following the PDF guide and trying multiple times I could not get the cam to connect to my wireless network (n-channel, WPA2). I quickly found the Foscam support forums, downloaded the new firmware for the FI8921 (version 1.1.1.13) and (after two tries) got the cam firmware upgraded and rebooted the cam. Tried to connect to wireless again: BOOM. Worked right away. Video quality/fps is exactly the same as when connected via Ethernet. I am extremely pleased.
Remote Login: have not had a chance to set this up yet but it appears to be a trivial matter of setting up port forwarding on the wireless router.
Support: the Foscam Support site is VERY good. There are tutorial videos for almost everything and the install CD game with a couple PDF guides that were extremely detailed and useful. No need to call customer service : ) And judging from the frequency of the updates on the site, it looks like Foscam is actively addressing bugs and releasing firmware updates every month or two.
Issues: upgrading firmware and setting up wireless took a little poking around but wasn't that bad. Granted, it was not exactly plug and play setup like the Withings. The browser interface locked up a couple times when I tried to reboot the cam, but closing the tab or restarting Safari fixed it. Something to do with the plugin which I still cannot get updated... The firmware update to 1.1.1.13 fixed a couple issues I saw at first - cam not connecting to wireless, cam not rebooting when commanded to (you can tell because it resets its pan/tilt position). So far have not encountered any other issues.
Conclusions: The Foscam FI8921 is an exceptional product that meets all of my criteria for an IP cam/baby monitor: high quality video, good fps, night vision, competitive price, a browser interface, iOS support, remote login ability. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend it over the Withings, which is a definite rip-off.
My intended use is to have this as a secondary monitor in the baby's room. We'll probably use a cheap, simple audio-only monitor that we'll leave on in the background, and when the baby cries or makes noise we'll have the ability to quickly fire up the Foscam (via iOS or on a laptop) and get a peek. It will also be cool to remote login from work and see the lil guy napping or playing; although how it will stack up against FaceTime has yet to be seen...

***UPDATE: 7-17-2013***
Got the iPhone app as well as the remote login features working. The iPhone app, which was recommended on the Foscam forums, is LiveCams Pro for $4 (I think). You simply select your brand and model of camera, enter in all your cam info, local IP, http port, login and pw, and you're good to go! The app offers full control of the camera including pan/tilt, zoom, IR, two way mic, etc.
The remote login was actually very easy to setup thanks to another PDF guide on Foscam's site. Simply set up port forwarding on two ports (http and media port) to the cam's IP address and it just works. I tested it in Safari by logging into my external IP + http port (for example 12.123.12.23:8080) and also using LiveCams Pro - both work great!
While streaming a local video feed on Safari on my desktop (Ethernet), on an iPad (wifi) and an iPhone (via 4G) there is only a couple hundred millisecond delay between all 3 feeds! Pretty darn impressive.
I also briefly tested out the IR night vision early this morning: video quality is much better than what I experienced with the Withings baby monitor. The IR LEDs are powerful but don't over-illuminate like a spotlight. The light is very even across the cam's field of vision. The IR LEDs provide visibility up to about 10-12 feet. The video lost none of its quality and clarity while in IR mode.
Still extremely impressed with the FI8921 - well done Foscam!
After 4 months of use, I unplugged the camera and plugged it back in. I now have a broken camera. This POS has a bug in the firmware that causes it to never get out of the boot-up cycle. The reset button doesn't work. It is bricked. The only thing I can do now is to return it to the manufacturer. I have requested a RMA via their website, but so far no response (only 24 hours). I will keep this review updated with my customer service experience.
Original:
The camera works very well and looks good. To run at 720p resolution and 30 fps, you will need the camera and the viewing computer on the same wired network. With the camera on the wired network and the viewing computer on wireless I only get about 20 fps, but that is due to all the other wireless networks in the area. The build quality of the camera is good. The black camera is coated with a mat finish paint that works very well. It doesn't reflect any light. The IR LEDs on the front do glow red though, so the camera is noticeable in the dark. The camera makes a little noise when panning or tilting. The camera also comes with a good quality plastic wall mount. The method of attaching the camera to the mount is the same as is used by most cameras, one screw hole in the bottom.
The quality of the android app is very poor. It will not work with this camera. I ended up paying a few bucks and using a third-party ip camera app that works much better called "IP Cam Viewer".
Please note that you do not need to do any port forwarding if you are only interested in viewing the camera from your local LAN. Just make sure you connect to the camera through the configuration port and not the media streaming port.
Camera has been solid, like I stated below this does work on your iPhone over 3G/4G with the "FREE" Foscam app, you don't need to buy the 4.00 app.
Settings
Download "FREE" Foscam App
Add ipcam
select +
H264
device name = My Cam
ip = the cam DNNS address
user = user name you've created
password = the password for above user
media port = 888
web port =88
Add
brings you back to the main screen your cam should show up there. Good luck.
UPDATE 8-16-13
The camera has been behaving on the new firmware 1.2.1.1 for the most part yesterday it fell of the network all day. I could not figure why but I will blame it on the wireless router. I'm upgrading to 4 starts. So far so good I still wish this had a zoom option and I was able to limit who can listen in, maybe a future upgrade?
(Do NOT buy the TENVIS Iprobot3 only good thing is the zoom video quality sucks)
UPDATE 8/4/2013
I have upgraded to 3 stars.
After upgrading to the new firmware the cam has been more stable.
I once again took the challenge on the port forwarding with success
I can now get the stream on the "FREE" Foscam app using the cam's DDNS on 3G/4G. I don't know if was because of the port forwarding but it started working after I configured it.
I've had to lower the video to VGA because I noticed it's hammering my network at 720P. With newborns I have 3 to 4 people watching.
I still wish they would include additional options like, turn off sound and mic.
END UPDATE 8/4/2013
After using this camera for a few days I will give you the Cons and Pros in my opinion.
Pros:
Quality of camera is excellent
Comes with a mounting bracket
Configuration is fairly easy
Manufacture's DDNS pre-configured
Foscam app for home network only
Cons:
It has dropped of WIFI twice now, had to reboot, reconfigure with no luck then it magically it shows up. (with the old firmware have upgraded)
There is no way to disabled sound for users Admin, Operator or Vistors
Only one concurrent connection per ID (8 IDs total)
No smartphone support over 3/4G (Tech support directs you to buy a 3 dollar app)
Web browser plugins have to manually added before you can browse the camera (makes a pain cause most people do not know how to do this)
No zoom
Over all this camera does what is built for. However for the 140.00 price tag I would expect a little more for my money. Installation is 1, 2, 3 but if problems arise you will need more the basics. I never got port forwarding working but with it's own DDNS it's not needed.
I'm seriously thinking of returning camera and getting the TENVIS Iprobot3 looks better and almost half the price.
Top reviews from other countries
+ kostenlose Foscam DDNS bereits integriert
